thug life is a term created by tupac shakur. it is a revolutionary response to an oppressive system.
after tupac passed, the term spread like wild flowers throughout the hip hop culture and became a term to represent one’s identity.
it is an identity linked with one’s lifestyle and ways of dealing with life struggles who often have to do with living in hard conditions.
it also became a trendy thing to be and a trendy word to use. something that can be viewed as negative by the society viewed as something inspirational for others.
i find that opposition quite interesting, and that drove me to designing this logo.
it was hand drawn, and then digitally drawn.
hand drawing is very therapeutic for me, and changes the sense of time.

thug life est un terme créé par tupac shakur qui signifie en gros “vie d’une personne violente”. c’est une réponse révolutionaire à un système oppressif.
une fois tupac décédé, cette expression s’est répandue à travers la culture hip hop. c’est devenu un terme pour éxprimer son identité.
une identité liée à un style de vie et une solution pour affronter les problèmes de chaque jour, souvent liées aux problèmes de société.
c’est devenu une mode de s’appeler un thug ou d’avoir l’image d’un thug.
quelque chose qui peut être vue de façon négative par la société peut être vue de manière positive par d’autres.
je trouve cette opposition intéressante, se qui m’a incité à créer ce logo.
je l’ai dessiné à la main puis sur le mac.
dessiner est très thérapeutique pour moi, ça change la notion du temps.
