water use
November 29th, 2007

what inspired this project are sprinklers used all accross los angeles that water the concrete and cars, and not the actual grass.
water is our planet’s next huge crisis.
the population is not getting educated of this through mass media.
i am changing the way i live and use water.
we must all change our lifestyles when it comes to water and non–biodegradable items.
as time goes by, many people of some of the poorest countries will be migrating to the northern hemisphere because they will neither have water nor be able to live under extreme temperatures.
water shortages are already happening in rich nations… in southern states of the u.s. for example.

i am finishing a thesis project for college,
i also hung bottles in a museum,
my message was to stop buying bottled water..
and to start investing in improving our tap water.
i was just told about your project.
i like the way you put the information on the bottle labels.
Its too bad all good ideas you think are original turn out not so original..
at least in my case it happens more than id like..
but way to go-good job~
hello miranda.
i clicked on the link to your website, but no website came up.
so you hung bottles in a museum for people to stop buying bottles…
isn’t it interesting that you want people to stop buying bottles but you use bottles in you exhibition?
i understand what you mean.
recording artist nas said this in a song:
‘no idea is original
there’s nothing new under the sun
it’s never what you do but how it’s done.’
there are original ideas in my opinion.
but how you do them is an important aspect.
what do you mean by ‘ more than id like ‘ ?
i don’t understand because i don’t see anything id like here.
there is no branding of a corporation or company.
just a visual language that shares data.
please send me a link to your exhibition, i would love to see it.
also, when i did this project, i did not think about how original it was…
i thought about how important the message was and what was an impactful way of showing it: by making the invisible visible.
in this case, the amount of water is in containers usually used to drink. they are all .5L.
i do think that for certain projects, it is more important to focus on communication than on the originality of it…
if we want a change or people to change their ways.
keep rockin it.
